Surrounded by Dragonflies

Dragonflies spend much of their lives beneath the water—
unseen,
changing,
becoming.
Only in time do they emerge,
unfolding delicate wings
and taking flight.
I notice how my own healing has moved in much the same way.
Much of what has transformed me
has happened beneath the surface,
in places others could not see.
After loss,
heartbreak,
and seasons of struggle,
I found myself gathering wisdom
one experience at a time.
Strength formed where tenderness had been tested.
Clarity emerged where confusion once lingered.
Hope returned in ways I could not have imagined.
Healing did not erase what had been.
Rather,
it allowed me to carry my experiences differently—
with greater understanding,
greater compassion,
and a deeper trust in life itself.
Like the dragonfly,
I have been shaped by the waters I have traveled through,
yet I was never meant to remain there.
There came a time to emerge.
To meet the present moment
with a lighter spirit.
I came to recognize that even through difficult passages
I had the power to rise above them.
Surrounded by dragonflies,
I am reminded that after seasons of becoming,
there comes a time to take flight.
In their presence, I feel a quiet readiness.
There, I discover my wings...
